Lord Panzer & Kompanjongene live @ Arm Jubilee 2013

A couple of weekends back, we were lucky enough to witness an absolutely legendary live performance by Lord Panzer & Kompanjongene, at the Arm Jubilee 2013. Below are the somewhat drunk and shaky video document.

Lord Panzer & Kompanjongene – Pervers Politiker (Ebba Grön)

Lord Panzer & Kompanjongene – Someone’s Gonna Die (Blitz)

Lord Panzer & Kompanjongene – Friggin’ In The Riggin’ (Traditional)

Lord Panzer & Kompanjongene – Stand And Deliver (Lord Panzer & Kompanjongene Original)

We’re, understandably, patiently awaiting a debut record.

Anything goes. Keep it comin’. A link to the forums has been added to the top menu of the website.

Goodbye 2012 – what’s up 2013?

Collage of some of the record covers from 2012

Collage of some of the record covers from 2012

2012 has been a hell of year in the melon business – we’ve released no less than 22 records, that’s a total of 141 tracks – 10 hours, 54 minutes and 34 seconds worth of music! Many thanks to all the artists who have contributed so far! I’ve posted a mix of the tracks that have been released in 2012 at the bottom of this post, so scroll all the way down there if you just want the music.

2012 also saw MarsMelons go through a design overhaul, we’re now running on WordPress, and have the ability to run multiple practical plugins through it – so if there’s anything you miss, give me a holler, and I will look into it.

We’re also on Facebook, Youtube, Twitter and SoundCloud now. Facebook will be updated with the latest releases/mixes on the label, YouTube will feature video content from artists affiliated with the label (if you have videos, please send them to us!), our SoundCloud will feature new tracks released on the label, while Twitter is used rather casually (due to the fact that we have an astounding 16 followers on there, hehe).

As for 2013, there are many things in store

We’re planning to get a monthly concert night up and running. Exactly where is not quite decided yet, but you’ll be the first to know once we know.

Plenty of releases are in the pipeline as well. Ulf aka Phlu is, as always, working hard and fast on a new project called ‘Skiftende Bris’, which promises to be his most exciting sounding project yet.

Trixie Marmelade

Trixie Marmelade

Harvey Steel have a new EP coming up, and even their backing singer, miss Trixie Marmelade has a solo record just around the corner. Harvey will always deliver the goods, and that Trixie record – wow! Talk about psychedelic wilderness – the vocals on her are just myselium, raw fucking crack-battered energy. Looking much forward!

I’ve also received information from Blaendvaerk that a new EP from him is nearly finished, and it sounds mighty promising!

West Bank Robbers’s debut album/EP is also in the mix – and it sounds fucking fantastic. Great, great Norwegian punk-rock, I’d say in the vein of Hamstern & The Pepsikids in lack of a better comparison. We’re really excited to release this one.

A new Step-Brother Taxi record is in the works as well, which is about time! I’ve been wanting more for a couple of years now. People from Spain want more too.

What more? Hopefully we’ll have some more Sterk Te soon, some of the high quality recordings. That would be great. Rone Sure will also release his record in due time – I’m hearing it’s sounding very different from the version we accidentally leaked for a couple of days, before we had to take it down due to the tracks being only early drafts.

Oh, and Croydon Juice Circuit is on its way – stay tuned for that! Being polished in the HQ as we speak! Mads Meskalin has also been promising some tracks and videos, hopefully we’ll have that too sooner rather than later.

We’re also hopeful on the Cock Invaders record, though not exactly holding our breaths on that one. And maybe, just maybe, with the right amount of convincing, we’ll get some tracks from the brilliant The Secret Sound. We sure hope so!

Some words on getting the word out

One of the things we’re struggling a bit with is getting the word about MarsMelons out and about. I’m no marketing guru, in fact, I’m with Bill Hicks on this one – but of course, we’re doing a noble cause here, and if you find it in your heart to talk about us wherever you are in the world – feel more than free to do so! If you happen to have a masters degree in marketing, we’re also interested in hearing from you – you can use that degree of yours for something good, you know!

And also – social media! People just adore that shit. So use Facebook, Youtube, Twitter and all that for what it’s worth, spread the word turd, and help us grow! Yeah.

Peace out and have a good one tomorrow!

Rone Sure record retracted

Following a correspondence with Rone Sure in Buenos Aires, it appears that he has sent us some very early drafts of his record ‘Purple XI’ instead of the finished piece. We have therefore retracted the current version from the site, and we’re awaiting Rone’s update. It might take some time, he says, as he’s currently participating in the annual alfajores eating competition in La Plata. Sorry about that!

Finanskrisa’s mix from Verkstedet, December 14th + Photos

Finanskrisa were immense at Verkstedet on Friday, so immense that they blew the main fuse. Listen to how that sounded (and of course the rest of the mix) below.

The Society of Poor Academics live @ Verkstedet, December 14th

What a night it was! Brilliant performances from The Society of Poor Academics, Phlu, Eddie Tambongo and Finanskrisa. Just as the party was about to explode through the roof, the power was cut, and it never came back. Below is a video of The Society of Poor Academics performing his Jonas Alaska-diss ‘Jonas Alaska: Drømmeknuser’.

Knoklene also had a brilliant show at Hausmania yesterday, big ups to them, and be sure to check out their new EP too.
